Searching for light...

Lost in the darkness,
I am searching for light;
Walking in quest of
Something that is bright.

Little seems the scope,
For me to get back,
Times have gone by,
In the quest for things I lack.

It has been quite some weeks,
Since I am moving on and on;
But I don’t seem to get,
The right path to move along.

Struggling and fighting hard
Trying to further grow,
Searching for the light of hope,
Or just its faint glow…

'Baggage'

I carry some baggage, too wretched and heavy,
Pins me to the ground, makes me walk so slow.

It seems like a curse, a never ending bane;
I need to live with it, yet not allow the misery to grow.

I know I am depleted; I have carried it for so long,
But there's something stubborn in me, that won’t let it go.

Even if I froze, somewhere along the path,
I hope to turn into a milestone, for others to follow.

I drag my feet and carry them, for some more distance,
Look ahead in eternity, where the stars of my hope glow.

A new baggage awaits me, at the destination,
I'll take the new baggage. This old one, I'll throw!

The destination is far and seems quite distant,
But on reaching there, I hope to make an impact, a blow!

There's something which encourages me to move forward,
I'll make it to the destination, and let the whole world know!

Around the corner

A marvelous poem by Charles Hanson Towne...

Around the corner, I have a friend
In this great city, that has no end.
Yet the days go by, and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone,
And I never see my old friend's face,
For life is a swift and terrible race.

He knows I like him just as well,
As in the past days when I rang his bell
And he rang mine. We were younger then,
And now we are busy tired men;
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.

"Tomorrow", I say, "I'll call on Jim
Just to show that I am thinking of him,"
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
The distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away...
Here's a telegram, Sir, "Jim died today"

And thats what we get and deserve at the end,
Around the corner, a vanished friend...

It's not the distance that separates, its ourselves... Call your friends now, before its too late!

New Year Resolutions

I am sick of making similar kind of new year resolutions year after year. This time I am planning to keep resolutions which I can actually accomplish.

Hence, I am making the following resolutions for 2010 :
1. I want to gain weight. Put on at least 5 kgs.

2. Stop exercising. Its just waste of time.
3. Read less. Strain my brain a little less.
4. Watch more TV. I've been missing some good stuff.
5. Procrastinate more.
6. Drink. Drink some more.
7. Take up a new habit: smoking.
8. Spend more time at work.
9. Reduce time spent at cooking: I should eat out more.
10. Quit giving money & time to charity.
11. Start being superstitious.
12. Speak in a monotone voice and only use monosyllabic words.
13. Keep my status message ‘Busy’ as much as possible and avoid talking to friends.
14. Only wear jeans that are 2 sizes too small and use a chain or rope for a belt. Only wear white T-shirts with those fashionable yellow stains under the arms.
15. Bring back disco.
16. Change my sleep timings daily. Be the king of insomniacs.
17. Lend more and more money. Get stressed due to the debt.
18. Waste more time relieving the past and worrying about the future.
19. Do less laundry and use more deodorant.
20. Avoid taking a bath whenever possible and conserve more water.

Wish you all a wonderful 2010
